Morris Krepky elected by board as first Fire Chief
1979
Prop 1, approving funding for Anderson Island's first fire station passes by an overwhelming 85%.
21 Volunteers join the department and our first fire truck is acquired.
1978-1980
District meetings are held at the Anderson Island Library.
1980
Fire Station built.
First EMT in the department.
Fire tender vehicle purchased.
1980-1981
Official meetings moved from being held in the library to Riviera Club office.
1981
First meeting held at new fire station building.
First ambulance purchased.
Acquired tanker truck from Riviera donation.
Responded to first medical call.
1982
14 volunteer firefighters complete basic firefighter course.
1990
Two additional vehicle bays added to the existing station, bringing the total to four.
1995
Marine Unit established.
Our fire boats have responded to: marine fires, shore fires, search and rescue operations, patient transport, flare sightings and vessel assistance.
1997
Second fire boat acquired.
2002
James R. Bixler joins the District as Fire Chief.
2007
Training/Classroom added to station building.
2022
Resident Firefighter Quarters built.
